National Science Week
Grants support science events, activities, and community programs during National Science Week. Events can be in-person or online.
Some examples of what we have previously funded:
- Public talks and science demonstrations
- Hands-on workshops for families and children
- Citizen science activities and nature observation events
- Stargazing and astronomy nights
- STEM activities for schools and youth groups
- Science storytelling and community screenings

Victorian Libraries
Who can apply: Victorian public libraries
Amount: Minimum $1,000 and up to $2000 per library service.
Timing: Applications are live Tuesday 7 July 2026 and will close COB Friday 17 July 2026. The full grant process dates and delivery schedule can be downloaded below.

We appreciate that timings are tight this year. The application process has been streamlined and simplified because of this. Please reach out to us if you have any questions about the application process.
A handy resource guide for simple but effective activities and items you could consider funding for National Science Week has also been created in reference to the tight timings and turnaround for this year’s grant application.

Resources
Neighbourhood Houses
Who can apply: Neighbourhood Houses and Community Centres across Victoria
Amount: Seed grants managed through Neighbourhood Houses Victoria (2026: $20,000 across 18 grants)
Timing: Applications managed by Neighbourhood Houses Victoria. Contact NHVic directly to apply.
Schools
Who can apply: Schools across Victoria
Amount: Up to $200 per school.
Timing: Applications managed nationally. These grants are administered by the Australian Science Teachers Association and must be applied for through their scheme.https://asta.edu.au/resources/programs/national-science-week/school-grants/
Major Events
Who can apply: Organisations running major public events during National Science Week
Amount: Up to $20,000 per grant
Timing: Applications managed nationally. Applications open in September/October. Usually announced in March the following year. These grants are administered by the Federal Government and must be applied for through business.gov.au
